PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This workshop will illustrate how the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model helps to facilitate deeply authentic healing connections in group. We will discuss basic tenets of the IFS model, including unblending and speaking for parts, which in group reduces reactivity and shame, while enhancing connection, mutual understanding and self-acceptance. The workshop will include experiential and didactic learning.
OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Summarize the benefits of using IFS in groups.
2. Define the process of "unblending" and "speaking for parts" in order to soften defenses and promote group cohesion.
3. Demonstrate strategies to elicit and identify parts shared by subgroups/group as a whole.
4. Identify active leadership strategies that activate the Social Engagement System and foster attachment and affective resonance in the here-and-now. 5. Compare leadership roles in IFS and psychodynamic groups.
