PRESENTER: Jacob Glickman, PsyD, MA, LPC (he/him) is a clinical psychologist, licensed professional counselor, sexologist, and feminist researcher. His work has explored the use of pop culture, parasocial relationships, and play as a critical component of therapy for clients of all ages. This passion culminated in his dissertation, "Roll for Wellness: A Therapeutic Role-Playing Treatment for LGBTQIA+ Identified Individuals in Group Therapy Treatment Settings," in which he debuted "Roll for Wellness," one of the first tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) created specifically for use in therapy. Dr. Glickman currently serves on the board of PAGPS as its technology coordinator.
3.75 CE credits for Psychologists, Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists, & Professional Counselors
From attendance at this virtual event, participants will be able to:
1. Analyze the historical and cultural foundations of TTRPGs to contextualize current academic/therapeutic interest in them.
2. Compare the structure and process of TTRPGs with that of group therapy to demonstrate the potential of TTRPGs as a treatment modality.
3. Translate between common terminology of TTRPGs and their counterparts within clinical theory.
4. Apply existing clinical skills to the new modality of therapeutic TTRPGs as preparation for using TTRPGs in treatment contexts.
5. Demonstrate the ability to read and fill out a character sheet, the fundamental tool in the therapeutic TTRPG process.
6. Assess how TTRPGs can enhance clinical practice as either a part of treatment or the primary treatment modality.
Because we are issuing CEUs, any attedees needing credits must be present for the full four hours (minus a 15-minute break) with their video feed on, beginning promptly at 8:30AM.
