In this virtual workshop, Dr. Tony Sheppard will explore the ethical implication of working with suicidal clients in group settings, as well as present different models of addressing suicidal members. Participants will learn the basics of ethical suicide prevention. 3 Ethics CE credits available.

PRESENTER: Dr. Tony L. Sheppard, Psy.D., CGP, ABPP, AGPA-F is a psychologist and the founder and director of Groupworks, a private practice in Louisville, KY. The Second Edition of his book, Group Psychotherapy with Children, co-authored with Dr. Zachary Thieneman will be published in August of 2023. He is a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and received the Spalding University School of Professional Psychology Alumni of the Year Award in 2018. Dr. Sheppard attained Board Certification in Group Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in 2023. He teaches at the local, state and national levels on group therapy and suicide and self-harm. He has taught Group Psychotherapy at Spalding University for over 15 years and trains and supervises doctoral students in group psychotherapy at Groupworks.

From attendance at this virtual event, participants will be able to:
1. Describe three of the basics of suicide prevention.
2. Identify three ethical principles that apply to managing suicide risk.
3. Demonstrate effective application of these ethical principles to the management of suicide risk.
4. List three ways these principles apply to their work in groups.
Because we are issuing CEUs, any attedees needing credits must be present for the full three hours (minus a 15-minute break) with their video feed on, beginning promptly at 9:00AM.
