This experiential workshop presents an introduction to sociometry and psychodrama as
trauma-informed group therapy approaches. Multiple action-based sociometry
processes will be demonstrated, followed by a strengths-based psychodrama. Risks of
retraumatization in psychodrama and group therapy will be addressed while
emphasizing SAMHSA’s guidance for trauma-informed care. The basics of
psychodrama history, theory, philosophy, and research will be outlined. Participants will
learn multiple engaging group processes that can be integrated into any group setting
with any topic.

Dr. Scott Giacomucci, DSW, LCSW, BCD, CGP, FAAETS, TEP, is the Director &
Owner of the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy in Media, Pennsylvania
and Director of Trauma Services at Mirmont Treatment Center. He teaches trauma-
focused psychodrama as an Adjunct Professor & Research Associate at Bryn Mawr
College Graduate School of Social Work. He is the author of Social Work, Sociometry, &
Psychodrama (Springer Nature, 2021, 325,000+ downloads), Trauma-Informed
Principles in Group Therapy, Psychodrama, and Organizations (Routledge, 2023), along
with multiple research studies, articles, and book chapters. He serves on the Executive
Council of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy & Psychodrama (ASGPP) and
co-chairs the Research Committee. He is Co-Chief Editor of the Journal of
Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy, book series Co-Editor
of Psychodrama in Counselling, Coaching, and Education, and co-editor
of Autobiography of a Genius (2019) by Jacob Moreno. Scott regularly presents at
local/global events and has received various awards/recognition for his work.
