About the Group
Experiential Training Process Group
The more we understand ourselves, the more skillfully we can help our patients and clients. In a profession where we spend so much time focused on others, this group offers an opportunity for needed support, reflection, accountability, and connection. Process groups are experiential and unstructured groups that become microcosms of the everyday kinds of groups in which we work and live. Each member brings their own unconscious and past experiences into the group, influencing how they relate to themselves, others, and the group-as-a-whole. Through the experiential group process and didactics, members deepen self-awareness, emotional insight, and understanding of the roles they play in their professional and personal lives.
In contrast to traditional psychotherapy groups, this group is designed to enhance clinical skill rather than treat a diagnosis. Goals are growth oriented. While many members do bring up their own developmental histories, the group leader’s inquiry is more focused on the here-and-now rather than on deeper genetic or developmental interpretations. Lastly, the explicit shift to a didactic component at the end of each group marks the clear purpose of an experiential-educational and collegial focus.
Ideal for ECPs, graduate students, and any other clinicians seeking growth opportunities.
