About the Group
Forever Postpartum: Mom Support Group
Motherhood is a beautiful, messy, chaos-inducing journey, and it often activates parts of ourselves that we never expected - some that we love, some that we come to accept, and some (or a lot) that we are ashamed to admit exist. This 8-week, facilitated peer support group is a safe, trusting space for moms to explore the complex emotions around the transformational shifts in their lives since becoming mothers. Together, we will hold space for each other to speak aloud the self-doubt, newfound power, anger/“mom rage," tenderness, and burden of commitment that is parenthood. We will also explore our old narratives surrounding who we thought we would be/what we thought we wanted - and how those things stack up to what we know now.
Facilitated by Dr. Claire Rodgers, a highly qualified licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in Women’s and Maternal Mental Health, topics will include (but are not limited to): Changing relationship to self and others Partner dynamics Irritation and rage Anxiety and overwhelm Self-doubt Identity lost; identity found Working motherhood Societal/cultural/gender expectations Family pressures and expectations Shifting friendships/friendships of convenience.
This group is not about parenting tips or quick fixes (we have Reddit and Dr. Becky for that...). It’s about exploring and navigating the personal transformation that motherhood brings in the valuable company of others also going through it. Dr. Rodgers’ extensive and specialized training and experience ensure that this support group is not simply a casual discussion space, but a therapeutic, structured experience designed to produce lasting, positive growth. Let’s share our stories and help ourselves and each other to shape them in the way we were always meant to: in community, with the wisdom of the group.
**Note: this group is adults-only, with the intention of carving out time just for you**
Dates: 3/19/25 - 5/14/25 (no meeting Wednesday, 4/16 for Spring Break)
About the Facilitators
Dr. Claire Rodgers is licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in helping women explore and navigate the complex emotional rollercoaster of modern motherhood and womanhood. A mom of two herself, Dr. Rodgers knows intimately the ambivalence that comes with parenthood during the time of life where women are typically just starting to find themselves. Along with her own lived experiences, Dr. Rodgers' work with others is informed by her doctoral-level education and extensive training in feminist therapy, attachment relationships, and perinatal mental health. The majority of her practice focuses on mothers who feel anxious, embarrassed, guilty, and/or discombobulated by what motherhood and its demands has stirred up in them, as well as on women grappling with complex relationships in their lives.
